CALLISTO is the second-largest moon of Jupiter. Callisto is composed of approximately equal amounts of rock and ices, with a density of about 1.83 g/cm3, the lowest density and surface gravity of Jupiter's major moons. Compounds detected spectroscopically on the surface include water ice, carbon dioxide, silicates, and organic compounds. Investigation by the Galileo spacecraft revealed that Callisto may have a small silicate core and possibly a subsurface ocean of liquid water at depths greater than 100 km. It is the third-largest moon in the Solar System Callisto was discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei. MYTHOLOGY: Callisto was a daughter of the Arcadian King Lycaon and a hunting companion of the goddess Artemis. According to the most common version of the myth, the supreme god Zeus fell in love with the woman. He took the form of Lady Callisto Artemis and possessed her. When the goddess saw Callisto pregnant, she got angry and turned her into a bear. Later, Zeus saved her from death by placing her among the stars as the constellation Ursa Major. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Change, new beginning, transformation, transition, improvement REVERSED: Resistance to change, withdrawal, stagnation, restriction, pause

GANYMEDE is the largest of the four Galilean moons of the planet Jupiter and largest and most massive of the Solar System's moons. Possessing a metallic core, it has the lowest moment of inertia factor of any solid body in the Solar System and is the only moon known to have a magnetic field. It is a fully differentiated body with an iron-rich, liquid core, and an internal ocean that may contain more water than all of Earth's oceans combined. Ganymede is composed of approximately equal amounts of silicate rock and water. Ganymede's discovery is credited to Galileo Galilei, the first to observe it, on January 7, 1610. MYTHOLOGY: Ganymede was a handsome Trojan prince whom Zeus took to Olympus in the form of an eagle. After that, the young man was gifted with immortality and appointed cupbearer of the gods. Zeus later put Ganymede in the sky as the constellation Aquarius. IO is the third-largest of the four Galilean moons of the planet Jupiter and the fourth-largest moon in the Solar System, has the highest density of any moon. With over 400 active volcanoes, Io is the most geologically active object in the Solar System. Several volcanoes produce plumes of sulfur and sulfur dioxide that climb as high as 500 km (300 mi) above the surface. Io was discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei. MYTHOLOGY: Io was an Argive princess and Naiad-nymph who was loved by the god Zeus. When Hera suddenly interrupted their tryst, Zeus transformed the maiden into a white heifer. However the goddess was not so easily fooled and requested the animal as a gift. She then appointed the hundred-eyed giant Argos Panoptes as its guard. Zeus sent Hermes to slay the warden but Hera soon retaliated by inflicting the heifer-shaped Io with a gadfly. The stinging insect drove the Io made forcing her to wander across the expanses of Europe and Asia without rest to eventually reach Aigyptos (Egypt). Once there Zeus restored her form with a touch of the hand and she gave birth to their son Epaphos. RHEA is the second-largest moon of Saturn and the ninth-largest moon in the Solar System. It is the smallest body in the Solar System for which precise measurements have confirmed a shape consistent with hydrostatic equilibrium. It was discovered in 1672 by Giovanni Domenico Cassini. MYTHOLOGY: Rhea was the Titanic mother of the gods, and goddess of female fertility, motherhood, and generation. Her name means "flow" and "ease." As the wife of Kronos (Time), she represented the eternal flow of time and generations. She was also a goddess of comfort and ease, a blessing reflected in the common Homeric phrase "the gods who live at their ease (rhea)." MIMAS is a moon of Saturn with a diameter of 396 kilometres (246 mi). It is the smallest astronomical body that is known to still be rounded in shape because of self-gravitation. However, Mimas is not actually in hydrostatic equilibrium for its current rotation. Mimas was discovered by the astronomer William Herschel on 17 September 1789. MYTHOLOGY: In Greek mythology Mimas was one of the Giants, the son of Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Heaven). He was killed during the Gigantomachy by Hephaestus with "missiles of red-hot metal" from his forge. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Sudden upheaval, lack of direction, broken pride, disaster, lack of direction REVERSED: Disaster avoided, delayed disaster, fear of suffering, restoring control, willpower

TETHYS is a mid-sized moon of Saturn about 1,060 km (660 mi) across. Tethys has a lowest density of all the major moons in the Solar System, indicating that it is made of water ice with just a small fraction of rock. The surface of Tethys is very bright, being the second-brightest of the moons of Saturn. This moon was discovered by G. D. Cassini in 1684. MYTHOLOGY: Tethys was the Titan goddess of the primal font of fresh water which nourishes the earth. She was the wife of Oceanus, the earth-encircling, fresh-water stream, and the mother of the Potamoi (Rivers), the Oceanids (nymphs of springs, streams and fountains), and the Nephelai (Clouds). Tethys, daughter of Gaia, fed her children's springs with the waters of Okeanos drawn through subterranean aquifers. Her name was derived from the Greek word têthê meaning "nurse" or "grandmother". DIONE is the fourth largest moon of Saturn. The satellite is always turned to Saturn with one side and one of the hemispheres "looks" in the direction of the satellite's orbit. Dione consists mainly of water ice with a significant admixture of rocks in the inner layers. The satellite was discovered by Italian astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini in 1684. MYTHOLOGY: Dione was a Titan goddess in Greek mythology, most probably a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys and thus, an Oceanid. According to some sources, she was the first wife of Zeus, with whom she had a daughter, the goddess Aphrodite. She was an oracle and was worshipped alongside Zeus at the earliest Oracle in Greece that was located at Dodona. TITANIA is the largest of the moons of Uranus and the eighth largest moon in the Solar System at a diameter of 1,578 kilometres (981 mi). Infrared spectroscopy conducted from 2001 to 2005 revealed the presence of water ice as well as frozen carbon dioxide on Titania's surface, suggesting it may have a tenuous carbon dioxide atmosphere with a surface pressure of about 10 nanopascals (10−13 bar). Was discovered by William Herschel in 1787. MYTHOLOGY: Oberon punishes Titania by using a potion that makes her fall in love with the first creature she lays eyes on when she awakens. And this creature turned out to be a donkey. That leads to a great deal of comic content, after which the matter is resolved with the spell broken. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Unconscious, illusions, intuition, wisdom, receptivity REVERSED: Confusion, fear, misinterpretation, hidden knowledge, initiation

UMBRIEL is a moon of Uranus and named after a character in Alexander Pope's poem The Rape of the Lock. Umbriel consists mainly of ice with a substantial fraction of rock, and may be differentiated into a rocky core and an icy mantle. The surface is the darkest among Uranian moons, and appears to have been shaped primarily by impacts. Discovered on October 24, 1851, by William Lassell. MYTHOLOGY: An earthly gnome who delights in wreaking havoc. He descends to the Cave of Spleen to collect a bag of “Sighs, sobs and passions,” which he dumps over Belinda and Thalestris, and vial of “fainting fears, / Soft sorrows, melting griefs, and flowing tears,” which he pours over Belinda, spurring them on to confront the Baron for snipping off Belinda’s lock. TRITON is the largest natural satellite of the planet Neptune, and was the first Neptunian moon to be discovered, on October 10, 1846, by English astronomer William Lassell. It is the only large moon in the Solar System with a retrograde orbit, an orbit in the direction opposite to its planet's rotation. Triton is one of the few moons in the Solar System known to be geologically active. Triton has a surface of mostly frozen nitrogen, a mostly water-ice crust, an icy mantle and a substantial core of rock and metal. MYTHOLOGY: Triton was a fish-tailed sea-god, the son and herald of Poseidon who stilled the waves with his conch-shell trumpet. Triton was often multiplied into a host of sea-spirits called Tritones which were regarded as satyr-like daimones (spirits) of the sea. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Completion, integration, accomplishment, travel, new perspective REVERSED: Seeking personal closure, short-cuts, delays, resistance, stalling

LARISSA is the fifth-closest inner satellite of Neptune. It was first discovered by Harold J. Reitsema, William B. Hubbard, Larry A. Lebofsky and David J. Tholen, based on fortuitous ground-based stellar occultation observations on May 24, 1981. Larissa is irregular (non-spherical) in shape and appears to be heavily cratered, with no sign of any geological modification. It is likely that Larissa, like the other satellites inward of Triton, is a rubble pile re-accreted from fragments of Neptune's original satellites. MYTHOLOGY: Larissa was a nymph who lived in Argos or Thessaly, gave birth to Pelasgus and Phthias from Poseidon. One day, while playing ball, Larissa fell into the Penei River and drowned. The city founded in this place was named after her. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Femininity, beauty, nature, nurturing, abundance REVERSED: Creative block, dependence on others, dependence, emptiness, nosiness

GALATEA is the fourth-closest inner satellite of Neptune. Galatea is irregularly shaped and shows no sign of any geological modification. Galatea was discovered in late July 1989 from the images taken by the Voyager 2 probe. MYTHOLOGY: Galatea was one of the fifty Nereides and the goddess of calm seas. She frequented the coast of Sicily and there attracted the attention of the Cyclops Polyphemus. The giant wooed her with tunes from his rustic pipes and offerings of milk and cheese. But the nymphe spurned his advances and consorted instead with a handsome Sicilian youth named Acis. Polyphemos flew into a jealous rage and crushed the boy beneath a rock. Galateia was grief-stricken and transformed Aсis into a stream. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: New beginning, fresh start, independence, seeker, research REVERSED: The inner world, strength, inner power, self-control, control

NEREID is the third-largest moon of Neptune. Of all known moons in the Solar System, it has the most eccentric orbit. It was the second moon of Neptune to be discovered, by Gerard Kuiper in 1949. MYTHOLOGY: Nereids were fifty sea-nymphs daughters of Nereus the old man of the sea. They were goddesses of the sea's rich bounty and protectors of sailors and fishermen, coming to the aid of those in distress. Individually they represented various facets of the sea from the salty brine, to the sea foam, sand, rocks, waves and currents, as well as the various skills possessed by seamen. The Nereides dwelt with their elderly father in a silvery grotto at the bottom of the Aegean Sea. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Illusion, fear, anxiety, subconscious, intuition REVERSED: Release of fear, repressed emotion, inner confusion, freedom, calm

THALASSA is the second-innermost satellite of Neptune. Thalassa is irregularly shaped. It is likely that it is a rubble pile re-accreted from fragments of Neptune's original satellites. Thalassa was discovered sometime before mid-September 1989 from the images taken by the Voyager 2 probe. MYTHOLOGY: Thalassa was the primordial goddess of the sea. Mingled with Pontus, her male counterpart, she produced the fish and other sea creatures. Thalassa was the literal body of the sea and in the fables of Aesop, manifests as a woman formed of sea-water rising from her native element. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Intuitive, unconscious, inner voice, balance, weighing options REVERSED: Lack of center, lost inner voice, repressed feelings, finding yourself, the inner self

PROTEUS is the second-largest Neptunian moon, and Neptune's largest inner satellite. Despite being a predominantly icy body more than 400 km (250 mi) in diameter, Proteus shape deviates significantly from an ellipsoid. It is shaped more like an irregular polyhedron with several slightly concave facets and relief as high as 20 km (12 mi). Its surface is dark, neutral in color, and heavily cratered. Proteus was discovered by Voyager 2 spacecraft in 1989. MYTHOLOGY: In Greek mythology Proteus the prophetic old man of the sea and shepherd of the sea’s flocks (e.g., seals). Proteus knew all things—past, present, and future—but disliked divulging what he knew. Those who wished to consult him had first to surprise and bind him during his noonday slumber. Even when caught he would try to escape by assuming all sorts of shapes. But if his captor held him fast, the god at last returned to his proper shape, gave the wished-for answer, and plunged into the sea. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Endure, willpower, inner wisdom, solitude, withdrawal REVERSED: Quiet, teacher or guru, research, fairness, court

NAIAD is the innermost satellite of Neptune and the nearest to the center of any gas giant with moons with a distance of 48,224 km from the planet's center. Its orbital period is less than a Neptunian day, resulting in tidal dissipation that will cause its orbit to decay. Eventually it will either crash into Neptune's atmosphere or break up to become a new ring. Naiad was discovered sometime before mid-September 1989 from the images taken by the Voyager 2 probe. MYTHOLOGY: Naiads were the nymphs of rivers, streams, lakes, marshes, fountains and springs. They were minor goddesses who attended the assemblies of the gods on Mount Olympus. Naiades, in conjunction with the goddess Artemis, were nurses of the young and the protectors of girls, overseeing their safe passage from child to adult. Apollon and the River-Gods were the complimentary guardians of boys. MOON TAROT CARD MEANINGS: UPRIGHT: Sacrifice, martyrdom, shackles, fear, captivity REVERSED: Delay, unnecessary sacrifice, fear of sacrifice, flight, escape
